This book examines the integration of Latin American firms to the model of Global Value Chains (GVC), analyzing chains led by Latin American firms and evaluating their impact on trade, investment, and structural duality.
The book presents case studies on four service exporting sectors (health, finance, audiovisuals, and research and development) and three countries (Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico). Each chapter undertakes a detailed analysis of these issues and draws policy lessons to improve —both quantitatively and qualitatively— the performance of the region’s service exports.
This book examines the trade policy measures adopted by Latin American and Caribbean countries during the crisis and evaluates quantitatively their impact on the macroeconomy, poverty and inequality. In addition, the book reviews other trade policy options available in crisis contexts.
